Fat Loss Methods Can Lead To Health Risks

It's good to lose fat. Your heart doesn't overwork from accumulated fat in your arteries. Your heart doesn't have to abnormally pump blood into a body that is heavy with fat. Your organs, particualrly your liver and kidneys, function better. Your muscles are toned. Your body is in shape. You look good and feel good about yourself. Yes, it's good to lose fat.

However, you have to be aware of the various dangers associated with losing fat. The methods that you may be using in keeping yourself trim and fit may be leading to certain health risks.

For instance we all know that exercise can help tone your body. But be aware that excessive exercise is a sign of an addictive personality. Determine a goal for exercising so you don't overdo it. Excessive exercise can place a heavy load on your heart, increasing your heart rate beyond what it can take, causing a heart attack. Take your workout one step at a time: beginning with a gentle workout and increasing in intensity as you go from exercise to exercise. Better still, get a workout coach, plan out your goals with him or her and follow your coach to the letter. This way, you allow your body to get used to exercise without worrying about short-circuiting, so to speak, your circulatory system.

Another health risk is taking appetite suppressants, which come in various forms such as shakes or pills. Weight loss shakes are often loaded with proteins, which can tax your liver and kidneys and lead to metabolic disorders. Likewise, weight loss pills may not have the seal of approval from scientific institutions or government health agencies, and may cause deadly side effects. Some of these effects may not even have been documented. However, there are safe appetite suppresants, but you need to consult your doctor or a qualified nutritionist so you may be aware of what's right for your body and what kinds of effect these suppresants may have on you.

There are other ways to lose fat that can lead to health risks. Keep in mind that your body needs a certain amount of fat to be healthy. If you are a woman, you need a certain amount of fat or body mass so that you can still have your period and keep your estrous cycle running. Your body needs fat in order to have stored energy. You cannot simply lose all your fat and expect to still be healthy.

Be wise in your methods and you'll reap the health benefits.
